Case Status

Definitions and usage of Case Status codes

  1. Awaiting Bill
Formal charges have not been filed, but the defendant and case has been entered in the system.
  2. Open
The case is currently being worked by an attorney.
  3. Closed
All work has been completed on the case.  For the Closed Date, enter the date that work was completed as opposed to the date the information was entered into the system.
  4. Drug Court
The defendant has entered Drug Court as an alternative to traditional proceedings.  If the client is unsuccessful in the program and returns to the traditional process, change the status back to Open, and note as an Event that the client did not complete the program successfully.
  5. Mental Health Court
The defendant has entered Mental Health Court as an alternative to traditional proceedings.  If the client is unsuccessful in the program and returns to the traditional process, change the status back to Open, and note as an Event that the client did not complete the program successfully.
  6. Diversion/Informal Adjustment
If the Judge accepts an alternative to formal proceedings other than Drug Court or Mental Health Court, select this option.  If the client returns to the formal court process, change the status back to Open, and note as an Event that the client did not complete the program successfully
  7. Fugitive
The defendant has failed to appear and a bench warrant has been issued.
  8. Incompetence
The defendant has been found temporarily incompetent, but is likely to regain competency within a reasonable period of time.  If the defendant is found to be unrestorably incompetent, use Incompetent-Unrestorable as the Result Code and select Closed as the Status.
  9. Probation
A result has been entered in the case, and the defendant is currently on probation.  Change the Status to Closed at the completion of the probationary period.
  10. Post-Disposition
For Juvenile Cases only. This status reflects that the dispositional phase of the case is complete, but that there will be periodic reviews as required.  Enter the reviews and their results on the Events tab.
  11. Continue w/o Date
The Case Result should also be set to Continue w/o Date if the attorney continues to be actively involved in the case, or to Closed if there is no more work anticipated.
  12. Dormant
This is an automated status that will be entered whenever no activity has been made on the case in the case management system for longer than a prescribed period of time.  To reactivate the case, change the status back to Open.  The Status Log tab will reflect whatever changes have been made and when.
  13. OPENED IN ERROR
Since the system does not allow cases to be deleted, use this entry when the case had been opened erroneously, or when a duplicate of the case has been entered and one needs to be removed.
