Case Result Codes
Adult and Juvenile Delinquency Case Results
The following Result Codes are available for Adult Case Types and Juvenile Delinquency Case Types for original criminal charges. The available Result Codes will differ for each Case Type selected, for example, if a Delinquency Case Types is selected, Jury type Results Codes will not be available.
- Deceased
The defendant has died
- Dismiss-Nolle Prosse
The State has dismissed all charges
- Refused-Not Billed
The State has refused to file any formal charges in the case
- Dismissed by Judge before Trial
The judge has dismissed all charges prior to commencement of jury selection, testimony in a bench trial, or a juvenile adjudication.
- Diversion / Informal Adjustment
The defendant has entered a diversion program, with the understanding that charges will be dismissed at the conclusion of the diversion program. If the defendant fails to complete such program successfully, change this Result Code to the final result, and make an entry in the Events tab to reflect that the client failed to complete the diversion program.
- Incompetent-Unrestorable
The defendant has been found to be incompetent to stand trial, and it has been further determined that there is little likelihood that competency could be restored within a reasonable time period. If the defendant is ruled incompetent to stand trial, but is subject to restoration for trial purposes, make no entry in the Result field, and change the Case Status to Incompetent.
- Judge GAC
When a bench trial is held, and the Judge holds that the Defendant is guilty of all charges appearing on the bill of information, or guilty of a set of charges that result in the same penalty as a guilty finding on the indicted set of charges.
- Judge-Lesser Felony
When a defendant is found guilty, in a judge trial, of a set of charges which does not include a felony of the same degree or seriousness as the most serious felony charge filed by the state.
- Judge-Lesser Misd
When a defendant is found guilty, in a judge trial, of a set of charges which does not include a misdemeanor of the same degree or seriousness as the most serious charge filed by the state.
- Judge Not Guilty
When a judge trial is held and the defendant is acquitted of all charges.
- Judge NGRI
The defendant is found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity by a judge.
- Jury GAC
When a jury trial is held, and the jury finds that the Defendant is guilty of all charges appearing on the bill of information, or guilty of a set of charges that result in the same penalty as a guilty finding on the indicted set of charges.
- Jury-Lesser Felony
The defendant is found guilty, in a jury trial, of a set of charges which does not include a felony of the same degree or seriousness as the most serious felony charge filed by the state.
- Jury-Lesser Misd
The defendant is found guilty, in a jury trial, of a set of charges where a misdemeanor is the most serious charge, and is of a lesser degree or seriousness as the most serious charge filed by the state.
- Jury-Acquittal
When a jury trial is held and the defendant is acquitted of all charges.
- Jury-NGRI
The defendant is found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity by a jury.
- Jury-Hung Jury
The jury is unable to agree on a verdict, resulting in a mistrial. If the case is tried again, copy the case to a new case.
- Plea GAC
The defendant pleads guilty to all charges as filed at billing.
- Plea - Nolo
The defendant pleads no contest to all charges as filed at billing.
- Plea-Lesser Felony
The defendant pleads guilty to of a set of charges which does not include a felony of the same degree or seriousness as the most serious felony charge filed by the state.
- Plea-Lesser Misd
The defendant pleads guilty to a set of charges where a misdemeanor is the most serious charge, and is of a lesser degree or seriousness as the most serious charge filed by the state.
- Plea to Dominant Charge
The defendant pleads guilty to the dominant charge in exchange for dismissal of other charges in the case.
- Plea to Non-Dominant Charge(s)
The defendant pleads guilty to a charge or charges other than the dominant charge in exchange for dismissal of the dominant charge.
- Plea GAC - Reduced Sentence
Defendant pleads guilty to the charges(s) as filed in exchange for a sentence less than the potential sentence(s) in the case
- Withdrawn
The office withdraws from representing the defendant
- Continue w/o Date
The case is adjourned without a date given to reappear. The Case Status should also be set to Continue w/o Date if continued involvement is anticipated, or set to Closed.
- Transfer to Other District
The case is transferred to another district, and the Case Status should be set to Closed.
- Transfer to Capital Contract Program
The case is transferred to one of the Capital Contract programs, and the Case Status should be set to Closed.
- Appointed-refused ROS
The case is app0onted to the public defender office, but is turned away because the office is restricting services.
- Outside Appointment ROS
The case is appointed outside counsel by the court because the office is restricting services.
Extradition Case Results
These Result Codes are specific to Extraditions
- Granted
The court has granted the extradition request.
- Denied
The court has denied the extradition request.
Probation Revocation Case Results
These Result Codes are specific to probation revocation proceedings.
- Probation Continued
All charges in the case are motions to revoke probation, and the court has ordered that the defendants probation be continued or the terms modified.
- Probation Revoked
Te court has ordered that the terms of probation be revoked and commits the defendant to serve the original or a modified sentence.
- Probation Terminated
The court has ordered that the terms of probation be terminated.
SOAP Case Results
- Petition Denied
Court finds that defendant is not SVP or CSP
- Determined SVP
Court has determined that defendant is a Sexually Violent Predator
- Determined CSP
Court has determined that defendant is a Child Sexual Predator
PCR Case Results
These Result Codes are specific to probation revocation proceedings.
- Granted
- Denied
Juvenile FINS Case Results
- Deceased
The defendant has died
- Dismiss-Nolle Prosse
The State has dismissed all charges
- Refused-Not Billed
The State has refused to file any formal charges in the case
- Dismissed by Judge before Trial
The judge has dismissed all charges prior to commencement of an evidentiary hearing
- Informal Family Services Plan
The family is obtaining treatment services, in lieu of a formal adjudication.
- Adjudicated FINS
The judge has entered an order directing that the family is in need of services.
- Adjudicated-Not FINS
The judge has entered an order directing that the family is not in need of services.
- Withdrawn
The office withdraws from representing the subject of the action.
- Transfer to Other District
The case is transferred to another district, and the Case Status should be set to Closed.
Juvenile CINC-Child and Parent Case Results
A Result Code is to be entered at the conclusion of the dispositional hearing, once there is a disposition as to all children involved. Unlike the Result Codes in adult criminal or delinquency proceeding, these results may change over time as the case progresses. A different Result Code will be entered when the child(ren) are reunified with the family or termination is sought. After the initial dispositional hearing, the Case Status should be set to Post-Disposition to reflect that the case is not actually closed but is subject to periodic review. If the case is converted to a FINS case, change the case type and follow the instructions for FINS above.
- Dismiss-Nolle Prosse
The state withdraws the petition(s)
- Dismissed by Judge before Trial
The judge finds that the petition is insufficient to move forward before a formal dispositional hearing.
- Aged-Out
The case is dismissed due to the child(ren) reaching the age of majority. If you are representing the parent and there are multiple children involved in the case, enter this as a disposition on the Charges tab, since the CASE is not yet resolved. When the case is ultimately resolved, enter Multiple Dispositions as the Result, and enter each appropriate disposition on the Charges tab.
- Reunification
The order of the court is reunification and the state is no longer supervising the case.
- Supervision by State
The court orders that the child(ren) return to or remain in the home, but the case is not yet closed and the state continues supervision.
- Continued Custody
The state continues custody of the children after the dispositional hearing.
- Withdrawn
The office withdraws from the case. If the office is withdrawing from representing fewer than all of the children involved in a CINC-Child case, enter this Disposition on the Charges tab as to that child only, as the CASE is not yet resolved. When the case is ultimately resolved, enter Multiple Dispositions as the Result, and enter each appropriate disposition on the Charges tab.
- Transfer to Termination
The State moves to terminate parental rights by filing a petition or otherwise taking formal action to terminate parental rights.
- Multiple Dispositions
When there are different dispositions for multiple children on a CINC case, use this Result Code, and enter each specific disposition of the Charges tab.
- Transfer to Other District
The case is transferred to another district, and the Case Status should be set to Closed.
Child Support & Contempt Case Results
- Deceased
- Aged-Out
The case is moot because child support is no longer required due to the age of the child(ren).
- Support Set
The court has entered or modified a child support order.
- Found in contempt
The Court has found the client guilty of contempt for failing to comply with the child support order.
- Not found in contempt
The Court has found the client not guilty of contempt for failing to comply with the child support order.
- Withdrawn
The office withdraws from the case.
- Transfer to Other District
The case is transferred to another district, and the Case Status should be set to Closed.
